My New Year’s Resolution to Quit

My New Year’s resolution is to quit smoking. After 15 years, I can honestly say I have not smoked for 11 days and counting. I tried to quit once before but was unsuccessful. This year I started the patch… but what helps the most — on our refrigerator my daughter set up a calendar. Each day I don’t smoke I get a sticker from her. It reminds me that my life isn’t the only one I could be hurting. Although I never smoked indoors, I realize what kind of example I set for her. I called Quit Now this week and have been assigned a Quit counselor to help me. So far, so good. I am determined to continue just to see those stickers.

I quit smoking this year too. It is the most difficult thing I have ever done. Good luck to us both.

I have been smoking for 30 Plus Years...12 days ago, I couldn't breathe. I knew my body and the Lord were telling me now is the time. I have been through so many groups, etc. before...this time it was between God and Myself because i knew there was no way i could ever deliver myself. I quit cold turkey. A stregnth within is helping me not smoke... though the cravings, coughing, persist, I wouldn't want to wish this on anyone. Doing this with the Lord is the only way true deliverance could happen, in my opinion..Mahalo.

Thank you soooo much for this campaign to stop smoking. a local radio station sponsored a stop smoking kit all you had to do was register. the person to help me was very helpful and even gave me a suggestion to stop smoking. she said to pick a very important date and start. i picked my daughter's birthday and and stayed smoke free for 1 year this month. what really helped me was a rubber band that said "snap it...you can do it"! thanks again and keep-up the good work :)

I've had many friends who have smoked and it has changed my life. I play sports for my high school I am 17 and am very active. my waterpolo team was thriving this summer but one of our good players started smoking. At first once or twice a day by the end of the summer, at least 1 pack a day. During the year his performance in sports had completly died and little did he know, but his physcial side had been effected with tanned teeth and terribly breath. This is my smoke story.
